CEIA Schools Robot Competition 2010-2011
The aim of the competition is to find and encourage talented students who could progress to Electrical and Electronic Engineering courses at third level and continue on to be innovators of the future.
This year the theme was Robotics in Space and the students are challenged to build and program space robots using a kit supplied by CEIA.. The challenge is designed to help students develop a range of valuable skills which include robotics, software programming techniques, project management, teamwork and presentation skills.
This annual competition is being undertaken by CIT in conjunction with University College Cork (UCC), Tyndall National Institute and the support of CEIA member companies. A key aspect of the initiative is that engineers, researchers and technologists from these institutes provide mentor support for the teams and this is an important opportunity to give the students an insight into potential careers in the industry.
